Appendix E. Creating and editing your own images

 

This Appendix covers how to use MS paint to edit your image files to a suitable size that can be used in Photo Box project from chapter 4. You can use the same technique to edit images for any of your projects.

Preparing your images

A typical camera on your smartphone is about 50 Mega Pixels. This is short for 50 million pixels and means that each image you capture contains approximately, 50,000,000 pixels.

You may already know about pixels. A pixel, (picture element) is a single dot in a digital image. The more pixels in an image, the higher the quality of the image. However, the downside is that the higher the quality, the larger the file size.

Now that you have a working Photo Book you will want to use your own images. As mentioned earlier, if you want to use the images taken with the camera on your smartphone or images from a website, then the chances are that each image will be large and high quality. This means that if you were to use the images straight from your smartphone, the GUI window would be massive and unusable, potentially the size of a large sheet of paper. To use your own pictures, you will need to adjust the size of the images.

There are two methods to resize your photos:
