13 MEAP resources and tracking sales
Congratulations on reaching the MEAP (Manning Early Access Program) stage of your book! This is a significant milestone in your publishing journey. MEAP allows readers to access your book chapter-by-chapter as you write, providing them with early access to valuable content and giving you the opportunity to receive feedback that can help shape your book. This document outlines the key resources you’ll need for your MEAP launch, how to engage with readers, and how to track your book’s sales.
What is MEAP and what do readers expect?
MEAP enables customers to start learning from your book before it is officially published. Readers understand that MEAP manuscripts are works in progress and do not expect perfection. They are encouraged to provide feedback, which is invaluable for improving your book as you write. Engaging with readers in the book’s liveBook discussion forum—ideally at least twice a month—is highly recommended.
When readers purchase your book in MEAP, Manning commits to providing them with new or revised content at least once a month. Regular releases not only fulfill this promise but also help generate buzz and potentially increase sales. If you encounter delays, communicate promptly with your Development Editor (DE) to get back on track.
Everyone at Manning is dedicated to publishing high-quality books and supporting your success. Please share any feedback you have about the process with your DE or the Development Manager.
