Phillip J. Windley is executive director of the IIW Foundation, the nonprofit behind the Internet Identity Workshop, which he co-founded and has organized for more than 20 years. Most recently, he was a senior software development manager at AWS Identity, where he led a team building products using Amazon Verified Permissions and the Cedar policy language. Previously, he served as an enterprise architect and principal engineer at Brigham Young University and as the founding chair of the Sovrin Foundation.
Phil has served as a professor of computer science at BYU and the University of Idaho, CIO for the State of Utah, VP of Product Development at Excite@Home, and founder and CTO of iMALL and Kynetx. He writes the Technometria blog at windley.com and is the author of Learning Digital Identity (O’Reilly, 2023), The Live Web (Course Technology, 2011), and Digital Identity (O’Reilly, 2005). He holds a PhD in computer science from the University of California, Davis.
