chapter four

4 Maximizing productivity with skills and schedules

This chapter covers

  • Using built-in skills to generate deliverables
  • Packaging repeatable instructions as custom skills
  • Running work on an unattended schedule
  • Bundling and sharing skills as plugins

All the work you’ve done so far with Claude has been a conversation which started with you telling Claude what you wanted. You can be brief, and Claude usually makes good assumptions and inferences for the bits you miss out, but if you put more time into your prompts you get better results. Which gets a bit tedious the next time you want to do the same sort of work. You either start from scratch and keep refining the goal on your turns, going through the same evolution you’ve already done. Or you search for the previous conversation and copy and paste the best prompt. That very quickly turns your delight at Claude’s capabilities into frustration that you need to keep repeating yourself.
