acknowledgments

This book has been in the making for a long time. We must have been discussing the idea for at least six months before we even started writing anything! But we’re so happy that we’ve delivered a high-quality book.

First, I (Lewis) want to thank my wife, Charlie. You’ve been very patient throughout the year of writing the book, always offering to take our lovely girls Alicia and Julia out for a couple of hours.

I (Marie) want to thank my partner, Stuart, for being patient and supportive during this time. There were a lot of late nights, and you’ve always been understanding and curious about the book. I would also like to thank my coach, Jenna Sinclair, for giving me the tools and support I needed to make sure I delivered the book chapters on time.

Next, we’d like to acknowledge our editors at Manning, Marina Michaels and Laura Castro. Laura Castro is a professor at the University of a Coruña (UDC) in Spain, where she coordinates two undergraduate courses for CS students: Software Architecture and Software Testing and Validation. Always active in maintaining an active connection with the software development industry, she is part of the BEAM (Erlang/Elixir) community, where she is a member of the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation and its Education Working Group, and also a member of the ACM SIGPLAN Erlang Workshop Steering Committee. Thank you for all your patience and for raising the quality of our book; we couldn’t have delivered such a high standard without you both.
