Welcome
It's hard to believe it's been two years since Manning published Kafka Streams in Action. In that time, event streaming has continued to grow in popularity and importance. The ability to respond to events immediately is becoming more of the standard way that businesses operate. And the shift to event-based applications places more demand on using the Kafka event streaming platform as the central nervous system for your data.
Over the past two years, Kafka Streams has matured into a stable, robust event stream processing library. Additionally, ksqlDB, the streaming database, has seen tremendous growth in features and adoption.
This second edition takes a broader view of the Kafka event streaming platform, providing more coverage of the different components. That means all-new chapters on Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and the Kafka clients. The content for ksqlDB expands from a few paragraphs to two full chapters. And of course, there's Kafka Streams, including new features and concepts.
Another new chapter in this book covers integrating the Spring Framework with Kafka and Kafka Streams.
