Part 2 Running applications in Kubernetes
The second part of this book dives into the core concepts involved in running, organizing, and keeping applications healthy in Kubernetes.
Chapter 5 introduces Pod objects, the fundamental building block of Kubernetes. You’ll see how an application runs inside a container within a pod, and how a pod can include additional helper containers that support or enhance your application’s functionality.
Chapter 6 explores what happens throughout a pod’s life cycle. You’ll learn how to run actions when containers start or stop, how to keep both the main and the helper containers healthy, and how Kubernetes manages readiness, liveness, and startup conditions.
In chapter 7, you’ll learn how to organize large numbers of pods and other Kubernetes objects so their purpose and ownership are always clear, making your cluster easier to understand and maintain—both for you and for your teammates.
