part two

Part 2 Prompt design

Part 2 is the heart of the book and includes the building blocks you compose every prompt from. The examples here come from the work you already do, such as pull request descriptions, code review triage, and incident summaries.

These five chapters move from the parts of a prompt to a prompt you can reuse. You will start with the structural elements that give a prompt its shape and the linguistic elements that decide how clearly it reads to a model. On top of those building blocks sit prompt patterns, reusable solutions to recurring problems, and prompt templates, which combine the elements and patterns into parameterized prompts you can run again and again.

Finally, prompt types show how system and user prompts fit together in a real chat application. Work through these chapters in order, and you will be able to design a prompt deliberately, review it like code, and reuse it across a team.
