Appendix A. Out-of-the-box Web Parts in SharePoint 2010

This appendix lists details of the out-of-the-box Web Parts in SharePoint 2010. The Web Parts are divided into three main stock-keeping units (SKUs): SharePoint Foundation 2010, SharePoint Server 2010 Standard, and SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise.

Each Web Part has the following information:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Assembly—Identifies in which assembly the Web Part is defined.
  • Class—Shows the full name of the Web Part class.
  • Web Part Type—Indicates which base Web Part Type the Web Part is derived from: SharePoint or ASP.NET.
  • Group—Shows the group that the Web Part is added to in the Web Part Gallery, if applicable.
  • Filename—Shows the name of the Web Part control description file (.dwp or .webpart) in the Web Part Gallery.
  • Sealed—Indicates whether or not the Web Part is sealed.
  • Feature—Provides the name of the Feature where the Web Part is added to the gallery, if applicable. The actual .webpart/.dwp file might exist in a different feature that’s activated using dependencies.
  • Provider Connections—Lists the connection provider interfaces of the Web Part.
  • Consumer Connections—Lists the connection consumer interfaces of the Web Part.

There are literally hundreds more Web Parts in SharePoint than listed here. Web Parts not listed either aren’t intended for custom use or aren’t available to users from the user interface.
