Permissioned Blockchains in Action MEAP V06

This is an excerpt from Manning's book Permissioned Blockchains in Action MEAP V06.

We have pushed your patience far enough. We know you’ve been itching to move past these simulations and not-quite-networks, and actually deploy a real blockchain network! Well, the time is here. And fortunately, the developers of Quorum have made this process of creating a multi-node network as simple as humanly possible. Quorum is a permissioned blockchain network developed by JP Morgan. It is a fork of the Go Ethereum (Geth) client and the developers try to stay as in sync with Geth as possible. This means that Quorum provides a very “vanilla” Solidity experience with support for almost all of the language’s features. It also means that the things you learn using Quorum will probably be portable to other Ethereum-based systems. In short, it is a great project to start learning about permissioned blockchains.

Figure 6.13 The coinbase value shown in Geth is the account used in Remix. In this example, each node has only one account.
