An application identifier uniquely distinguishes an app on devices and in store ecosystems. On Android, iOS, and macOS, use a case-sensitive reverse-DNS bundle ID that identifies the publisher and app, such as com.mildredssurfshack.mauistocktake. The publisher should be the business that owns the app and its developer account. section 12.1.5
Configure identifiers according to the target platform:
- Set ApplicationId in the .NET MAUI project file for Android, iOS, and macOS; update ApplicationTitle separately for the user-facing display name. section 12.1.5
- Leave ApplicationIdGuid unchanged on Windows because the project template generates its GUID automatically. section 12.1.5
- Treat capitalization as significant: changing the identifier makes the operating system recognize the deployment as a different app, so uninstall the old installation when necessary. section 12.1.5
Listing 12.1 The app identifiers
<!-- Display name --> <ApplicationTitle>MauiStockTake</ApplicationTitle> #1 <!-- App Identifier --> <ApplicationId>com.mildredssurfshack.mauistocktake </ApplicationId> #2 <ApplicationIdGuid>F31A0539-B7DB-4874-94A9-489AA23BDF47 </ApplicationIdGuid> #3
Use the project-file listing to distinguish the display name, cross-platform bundle identifier, and Windows GUID. section 12.1.5
