The Container Storage Interface (CSI) standardizes how storage providers integrate with Kubernetes and other container orchestrators. Its vendor-neutral, out-of-tree plugin model lets external CSI drivers handle operations such as attaching, mounting, formatting, and snapshotting volumes without changing Kubernetes core code. section 2.3.3
Use CSI through the cluster’s available storage interfaces:
- List installed drivers with kubectl get csidrivers. section 2.3.3
- List storage-provisioning mechanisms with kubectl get storageclasses. section 2.3.3
- Work with StorageClasses, PersistentVolumes, and PersistentVolumeClaims when completing Kubernetes storage tasks. section 2.3.3
Verify CSI support
Run kubectl get csidrivers to identify installed CSI drivers, then run kubectl get storageclasses to see the storage-provisioning options available for a PersistentVolumeClaim. section 2.3.3
