An Asset is the parent domain class for items owned by an organization in an IT asset management system. It centralizes shared attributes—name, status, category, id, and funding details—so Hardware and later asset types can share the same organizational view. section 3.3
Making Hardware inherit from Asset keeps common ownership concerns in one place while allowing hardware-specific behavior to remain separate. This supports adding types such as Software without changing the shared asset model. section 3.3
Model an asset and its funding
An Asset contains FundingDetails rather than a plain funding string. FundingDetails records a name, department, and depreciation strategy; the model can then use interchangeable depreciation-strategy implementations when calculating depreciation. section 3.3
Treat an AI-generated Asset class as a design proposal to inspect rather than code to adopt unchanged. In particular, review whether a constructor plus setters for every attribute fits the intended model and remains secure, complete, and easy to change. section 4.1.1
