Db_owner role

As explained in Building Web APIs with ASP.NET Core

The db_owner role is a SQL Server database role whose members have full permissions on a database.

The db_owner role is a SQL Server database role that gives its members the permissions needed to perform CRUD operations and create tables. section 4.2.4

Assign the role while creating the database login and linked database user:

  • Open the User Mapping page and select the MyBGList database. section 4.2.4
  • Create the MyBGList database user linked to the new login. section 4.2.4
  • Select db_owner under Database Role Membership, then retain the other default settings. section 4.2.4
  • Record the chosen login and user settings for the connection string used to access MyBGList. section 4.2.4

MyBGList database setup

Assign db_owner to the MyBGList user so the application can create its BoardGames, Domains, Mechanics, and junction tables. section 4.2.4

How Building Web APIs with ASP.NET Core covers it

How deep it goes
Defines the role and gives a UI-based assignment procedure, but does not enumerate individual permissions.
Examples
Uses the MyBGList user, database, and application tables as the concrete configuration example.
What it assumes
Assumes a SQL Server instance and database setup; addresses mixed mode when Windows authentication was selected.
What you can do after
Operate/configure a MyBGList database user in SQL Server Management Studio by assigning db_owner.
How it connects
Connects SQL Server logins, database users, CRUD operations, tables, and connection strings.
