A numbered sublist is a smaller numbered list nested inside a larger one. It groups substeps beneath a main step, making tutorials, recipes, and legal clauses easier to follow. section 9.3.3
Use these cues when asking for or checking a nested numbered list:
- Indent each subitem beneath its parent step; even one leading space tells ChatGPT to render a nested list. section 9.3.3
- Expect the browser to indent nested items farther than the main items, but note that both levels may initially use 1, 2, 3 numbering. section 9.3.3
- Choose another numbering style, such as lower-roman numerals, when identical numbering makes the levels confusing. section 9.3.3
Recipe instructions
A recipe can place several preparation actions under each main step. In HTML, an outer <ol> contains <li> elements, and each relevant <li> contains another <ol>, optionally styled with list-style-type: lower-roman. section 9.4
Generate the HTML code for a numbered list with the following items: -Get into the starting position: -Place two balls in your dominant hand, one in front of the other. -Hold the third ball in your other hand. -Let your arms dangle naturally and bring your forearms parallel to the ground (as though you were holding a tray). -Make the first toss: -Of the two balls in your dominant hand, toss the front one toward your left hand in a smooth arc. -Make sure the ball doesn't spin too much. -Make sure the ball goes no higher than about eye level.
Use the supplied juggling prompt as a concrete pattern: give ChatGPT main steps, indent their substeps, and request the HTML code. section 9.3.3
