Quarkus CLI is the `quarkus` command-line tool for generating applications, managing extensions, and launching Quarkus development workflows. Installation is optional but useful for a consistent terminal-based workflow. section 2.1.2
Use the CLI to:
- Create Maven-based applications with selected coordinates and extensions. section 2.1.2
- Generate Gradle projects with the `--gradle` flag. section 2.1.2
- Pin the Quarkus platform with `-P 3.15.1` or `--platform-bom`. section 2.1.2
- List, search, categorize, add, and remove Quarkus extensions. section 2.7.3
- Discover command syntax with `-h` or `--help`. section 2.1.2
Create an application
Run `quarkus create app org.acme:quarkus-in-action --extension quarkus-rest`. Add `--gradle` for a Gradle project or omit arguments to use configured defaults. section 2.1.2
$ quarkus create app org.acme:quarkus-in-action --extension quarkus-rest
Inspect a concrete CLI command for generating a REST-enabled Quarkus application. section 2.1.2
Extension workflows work across Maven- and Gradle-based projects. For example, `quarkus extension add "quarkus-messaging-kafka"` updates the project dependency, while `extension remove` uninstalls it. section 2.7.3
