ServiceCIDR

As explained in Google Anthos in Action

A Service IP CIDR is the address range from which cluster IP addresses are allocated to Kubernetes Services.

A Service IP CIDR is the address range from which cluster IP addresses are allocated to Kubernetes Services. Each ClusterIP Service requires one address from this range. section 10.2.2

Cluster networking separates address allocation into three ranges:

  • Node IPs are assigned to cluster nodes through the primary subnet. section 10.2.2
  • Pod IP CIDRs provide addresses for Pods running inside the cluster. section 10.2.2
  • The Service IP CIDR provides cluster IP addresses for Services. section 10.2.2

Selecting a subnet mask

A requirement for 129–256 cluster IP addresses corresponds to a /24 subnet mask. section 10.2.2

Use the subnet-sizing table to map the required number of cluster IP addresses to a Service CIDR mask. section 10.2.2

How Google Anthos in Action covers it

How deep it goes
Defines the address range and provides subnet-mask sizing by cluster IP count, without detailing allocation internals.
Examples
Uses a subnet-sizing table mapping 129–256 cluster IP addresses to a /24 mask.
What you can do after
Apply CIDR sizing tables to select a subnet mask for the required cluster IP address capacity.
How it connects
Distinguishes Service IP CIDR from node IP and Pod IP CIDR within Anthos GKE cluster networking.
