Anthos networking connects infrastructure environments, Anthos GKE clusters, services, and clients through four layers: cloud and hybrid connectivity, cluster networking, multicluster networking, and service and client connectivity. section 10.0
The layers assign distinct networking responsibilities:
- Cloud networking and hybrid connectivity connects public-cloud and on-premises environments. GCP deployments can use a single VPC, shared VPC, or multiple VPCs; non-GCP clusters operate as isolated networks. section 10.5
- Anthos GKE networking provides Kubernetes networking and ingress across GCP, VMware, bare metal, AWS, Azure, and attached conformant clusters. section 10.5
- Multicluster networking connects clusters so services can communicate across infrastructure environments, including GCP and on-premises deployments. section 10.0
- Service and client connectivity handles application communication within Anthos and access from clients or services outside the platform. section 10.0
Choosing hybrid connectivity
Use Dedicated Interconnect for large data transfers between on-premises and Google networks, Cloud VPN for lower-volume encrypted connections, or the public internet with TLS/mTLS for secured service-to-service traffic. section 10.5
Use the four-layer diagram to trace connectivity from infrastructure networks through clusters and multicluster routes to services and clients. section 10.0
