Cloud networking designs connectivity among infrastructure environments, Anthos GKE clusters, and applications. Its architecture separates infrastructure links from cluster, multicluster, and service-level communication. section 10.0
Organize Anthos connectivity into four layers:
- Cloud networking and hybrid connectivity links public-cloud and on-premises environments, using networks such as VPCs and secure inter-environment connections. section 10.0 section 10.5
- Anthos GKE networking handles cluster networking and ingress across GCP, VMware, bare metal, AWS, Azure, and attached conformant Kubernetes clusters. section 10.0 section 10.5
- Multicluster networking connects services across clusters deployed within one infrastructure environment or across hybrid environments. section 10.0
- Service and client connectivity enables Anthos applications, external clients, and external services to communicate with services inside the platform. section 10.0
Choosing a hybrid connection
Use Dedicated Interconnect for large data volumes and direct physical connectivity; use Cloud VPN for lower-volume encrypted links over the public internet; use TLS or mTLS when public-internet service connections need security without specialized network hardware. section 10.5
