A blog is a website page that publishes posts, usually with the newest post first. It differs from a static page because visitors expect fresh information, and it also preserves older posts as a searchable archive. A blog may be a stand-alone site or part of a hybrid site that combines a blog with relatively static pages. section 1.6.10 section 3.2.1 section 9.1
Use a blog to share news, answer customer questions, make announcements, publish tips, promote offerings, or give a business a more personal voice. Audience comments are optional: interaction can build community, but incoming messages need checking and timely replies. A one-way blog can publish only the site owner’s posts. section 1.6.10 section 9.0 section 9.1
Set up and sustain a useful blog with a simple routine:
- Choose a clear purpose, such as news, tips, customer service, sales announcements, or community interaction. section 9.1
- Post new text or media regularly so visitors have a reason to return and the site continues to show fresh information. section 1.6.10 section 9.1
- Choose whether visitors can comment. If they can, vet messages for appropriateness and quality; forbidden-word rules can automatically discard some messages. section 1.6.10 section 9.0
- Make older posts easy to find through archives or another navigable display. Common layouts include a scrollable reverse-chronological column, monthly archives, and a three-column post display. section 9.1
- Promote the blog through relevant social-media groups, links with other bloggers, video versions of posts, and media such as images, charts, or infographics. section 9.9
A blog as customer service
A business can publish posts that answer recurring questions, announce sales, and add personal anecdotes that humanize the business. If comments are enabled, the owner can respond to useful questions while automatically trashing messages containing chosen forbidden words. Regular updates turn the page into both a current information source and an archive visitors can search later. section 1.6.10 section 9.1
Improve a blog after publishing by checking analytics. Look for popular posts, reading time, visitor paths, bounce rate, referral sources, search phrases, and movement from a post to an e-commerce page. Use those patterns to clarify navigation, improve content, identify promotion partners, and better understand the audience. AI can help critique posts, suggest titles, or suggest promotion ideas, but the site’s topic and goals still guide what belongs there. section 9.0 section 9.9
