Cline is a Visual Studio Code extension that acts as an AI coding assistant. It can create and edit files, execute commands, inspect web pages, and continue refining web code when results do not work as expected. section 11.4
Cline is especially useful when a task spans several related files:
- Edit multiple files and add a complete feature from a natural-language request. section 11.4
- Create files, fix imports and syntax, run terminal commands, and monitor command output. section 12.2.1
- Use headless browser testing to check web applications and diagnose failures. section 12.2.1
- Budget carefully: the extension is free, but API usage can become expensive, and model providers may create privacy or intellectual-property risks. section 11.4
A practical website workflow
A website could be built by asking Cline to implement a feature, then prompting it to display the result. Cline can inspect the page, revise the web files, and repeat the process until the page works and looks acceptable. section 11.4
