Kubernetes namespace

As explained in Distributed Machine Learning Patterns

A Kubernetes resource that provides an isolation boundary for groups of resources within a cluster.

A Kubernetes namespace isolates groups of resources within one cluster. Resource names must be unique inside a namespace, but may repeat across namespaces. section 8.2.1

Use a namespace to organize and operate a project’s Kubernetes resources:

  • Run project examples in the selected namespace, such as creating a Pod with kubectl create. section 8.2.1

The basics namespace

After creating the basics namespace, activate it and create the whalesay Pod there. Its raw YAML identifies namespace: basics, making the resource’s isolation boundary visible during inspection.

How Distributed Machine Learning Patterns covers it

How deep it goes
Defines isolation and naming scope, then demonstrates creation, activation, resource deployment, and YAML inspection.
Examples
Uses the basics namespace, kubectx and kubens commands, and a whalesay Pod deployed and inspected with kubectl.
What it assumes
Assumes access to a Kubernetes cluster and introduces namespace creation and context switching through local k3s tooling.
What you can do after
Operate/configure namespaces with kubectl, kubectx, and kubens, then deploy and inspect resources in the active namespace.
How it connects
Connects namespaces with Kubernetes clusters, resource names, contexts, kubectl, kubectx, kubens, and Pods.
