Scrum of scrums

As explained in Think Like a Software Engineering Manager

A Scrum of scrums is a coordination meeting in which representatives of multiple Scrum teams address cross-team dependencies, impediments, and shared goals.

When several Scrum teams contribute to one project, a problem in one team can affect another. A scrum of scrums is a regular coordination meeting where representatives from each team discuss dependencies, impediments, and shared goals. section 10.1.3

Use the meeting to:

  • Bring together updates from individual team scrums so participants can see how the work fits together. section 9.3.1
  • Identify cross-team dependencies, risks, and blockers before they disrupt progress. section 9.3.1 section 10.1.3
  • Check that teams remain aligned on shared project goals while giving leadership a clearer view of progress. section 9.3.1 section 10.1.3

A dependency to raise

If one team cannot proceed until another team completes its work, their representatives can raise that dependency in the scrum of scrums. The wider view helps teams address it before it becomes a blocker on the project's critical path. section 9.3.1 section 10.1.3
