A deployment manifest declares the resources and configuration required for an application or service. In a GitOps workflow, it records the desired environment state in version control, making deployment changes auditable and reversible. section 9.4.1
A push-based deployment flow typically follows these steps:
- Commit application code, triggering a pipeline that builds the application container. section 9.4.1
- Generate concrete manifests from templates stored with the application, then write them and related API gateway configuration to a configuration repository. section 9.4.1
- Merge configuration changes to the mainline, triggering deployment of the specified target state. section 9.4.1
- Treat manual API gateway changes cautiously: they can create drift between the repository state and the running environment. section 9.4.1
