Social media consists of online spaces where people interact with friends, family, and other audiences; share comments, images, video, and other media; and join discussions. Facebook is a familiar example. Unlike a forum, which is usually organized around questions and answers on specific topics, social media tends to carry broader, more general conversation and multimedia. section 3.2.1
For a website owner, social media can turn promotion into an ongoing conversation with the people most likely to care about the site. Link to a blog from relevant social platforms, join groups connected to the blog’s topic, and invite interested members to visit. Cross-promotion can also include connecting with other bloggers, posting on related blogs, and turning post content into videos for YouTube. section 9.9
Use social media as part of a practical marketing plan:
- Interact with the audience while promoting goods or services. section 10.7
- Run focused advertising campaigns when promotion needs a more direct reach. section 10.7
- Participate in online forums as another way to meet people interested in relevant topics. section 10.7
- Use a system such as Hootsuite when social-media content needs organized handling. section 10.7
Finding an AI discussion community
Social media groups can be places to follow a subject, find discussions, and encounter different levels of expertise. Reddit combines content aggregation, discussion groups, forums, images, and video; its AI-related communities include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Midjourney, OpenAI, Singularity, and ChatGPT. Facebook groups can likewise mix course advertisements, event notices, and AI discussions, sometimes requiring approval before joining. section 13.4.3
Promotion works better when it is checked against visitor behavior. Analytics can show whether visitors arrive from social media, which posts hold attention, where visitors go next, and whether they move from a blog post to an e-commerce page. Use those signals to refine content, navigation, partnerships, and promotion rather than treating social posting as a one-time task. section 9.9
