Turing test

As explained in WordPress Power Toolkit: Harness AI to build next-level websites

The Turing test is an evaluation in which a machine is judged intelligent if a human evaluator cannot reliably distinguish its conversation from that of a human.

The Turing test evaluates whether a machine can convincingly imitate human conversation and thought. A human evaluator communicates with a hidden human and a hidden AI through printouts; the machine passes when the evaluator cannot reliably distinguish them. section 9.11

The test measures human resemblance rather than intelligence in every possible form. An AI might think, remember, or communicate differently from humans and still possess advanced or comparable abilities. section 9.11

Hidden-conversation setup

Place a human and an AI behind a curtain, have an evaluator exchange written messages with both, and ask whether the responses can be distinguished reliably. section 9.11

How WordPress Power Toolkit: Harness AI to build next-level websites covers it

How deep it goes
Defines the hidden-conversation procedure and questions its focus, but does not develop scoring rules or formal test variations.
Examples
Uses a curtain, written exchanges, a hidden human, and a hidden AI as the evaluation scenario.
What you can do after
Evaluate whether conversational AI resembles human communication without treating human resemblance as the sole measure of intelligence.
How it connects
Connects machine intelligence with human conversation, reasoning, memory, and multimodal learning.
