Video brings time-based visual content to a website and can give visitors a reason to stay longer. Use it purposefully rather than as decoration, and let visitors choose when playback begins. section 1.6.9 section 8.0
Plan video around these practical considerations:
- Prefer relevant video that supports the site’s purpose instead of adding media merely for decoration. section 1.6.9
- Avoid automatic playback; visitors should decide whether to hear or watch the video. section 1.6.9
- Store substantial video on a third-party platform such as YouTube rather than relying on a WordPress Media Library. section 8.3
- Embed the external player so the platform handles streaming, compression, and multiple video formats. section 8.3
