A graph property is a named key associated with a graph element and holding a value. In a movie database, properties such as name, title, born, and released describe people and movies. section 5.4.2
Properties make graph data searchable and usable in query results:
- A node can expose properties such as a person's name or a movie's title. section 5.4.2
- A MATCH pattern can constrain a node by a property value, such as finding the person whose name is Tom Cruise. section 5.4.3
- A RETURN clause can retrieve a matched node's property, while aggregation can count matched patterns. section 5.4.3
Finding a movie title
The pattern MATCH (p:Person {name: 'Tom Cruise'})-[:ACTED_IN]->(m:Movie) finds movies connected to the person whose name property is Tom Cruise. RETURN m.title outputs each matched movie's title property. section 5.4.3
#1
MATCH (p:Person {name: 'Tom Cruise'})-[:ACTED_IN]->(m:Movie)
RETURN m.title #2
