Claude is an AI assistant used for writing, planning, research-oriented consultation, prompt generation, and code output. It is especially useful when a task involves a large amount of text, such as summarizing a long document, analyzing a large data set, or drafting substantial prose. For programming tasks, it is presented as a strong option among several AI systems. section 1.4.1 section 13.1.1
Use Claude as a collaborator rather than a replacement for your judgment. Give it a clear role, the relevant details, and a specific result to produce; then review its response, keep useful ideas, and ask for refinements. A website plan, for example, can be submitted for suggestions about audience, content, community features, promotion, and monetization. section 3.2.3 section 1.5.14
A practical workflow is:
- State the task plainly, such as asking for an email, a review of a site plan, or an HTML table. section 1.5.13 section 1.5.14
- Add a role and useful context when expert suggestions would help, such as website designer or subject specialist. section 3.2.3
- Ask for a specific format or deliverable, including prose, Python, Windows command-line code, or HTML. section 1.5.14
- Check the result and follow up with targeted changes until it fits the intended use. section 1.5.14
Improve a website plan
For a niche fishing website, provide the project questions and answers, then ask Claude to review them step by step as an experienced website designer and bass fisherman. The response can suggest a narrower audience, credibility details, advanced content, a community forum, affiliate options, promotion, and social-media outreach. Treat these as ideas to assess against the site’s real goals. section 3.2.3
Generate and refine an HTML table
Ask: “List the five largest lakes in the US. Present the results in an HTML table.” Copy the generated table into the Text tab of an Edit Page screen. Then make a focused follow-up request, such as changing the column heads to black with white all-capital letters, and repeat the revise-and-check cycle as needed. section 1.5.14
Claude can also expand a brief prompt idea into a longer, more structured prompt through the Anthropic Console. After signing in, use Generate a Prompt, enter a short request, test the generated prompt, and edit it if needed. This can help turn a general intention into instructions that specify style, content, and placeholders for text. section 1.5.13
Responses still need checking. In one translation-style test, Claude declined a scrambled message because it did not recognize a language or cipher; the example illustrates that an AI response can be incomplete or wrong for a task and should not be accepted uncritically. section 9.11
