An AI assistant is a system that responds to requests in natural-language conversation. Instead of returning only a list of places to search, it can provide an answer, retain the context and preferences supplied in a prompt, and revise or elaborate on an earlier response. section 1.5.6 section 3.2.1
Use an assistant as a practical collaborator: state the goal, audience, format, and useful details, then improve the result through follow-up questions. Specific prompts produce more useful responses than broad requests, and complete sentences or descriptive phrases work well. section 1.5.6 section 6.6
From vague request to usable draft
Rather than ask, “Write about a businesswoman who owns a bakery,” specify the role, length, subject, purpose, and details to include. For example: request a 1,500-word character sketch of a successful bakery owner, including her routine, relationships, and work-life advice. The added constraints guide the response toward the intended result. section 1.5.6
AI assistants can support website work in several visible ways:
- Suggest a color scheme for a site purpose, then refine the recommendation around the impression the site should make. section 6.6
- Review blog data and suggest where and how to promote content to reach an appropriate audience. section 9.9
- Answer visitors’ research questions directly, sometimes with citations or links rather than a long results list. section 11.0
- Help shape content for discoverability by rewarding quality, accuracy, clear navigation, current information, and precise writing rather than attempts to game rankings. section 1.6.12
Treat the assistant’s output as a starting point, not a replacement for human goals and judgment. Keep prompts manageable: systems differ in how much text they accept, and complex requests can be overwhelming even where large inputs are supported. section 9.9 section 13.2
